TRWYN DU (PENMON) LIGHTHOUSE WINDMILL | EXPLORING WALES (Drone Footage)
This Drone Footage Video captures Trwyn Du Lighthouse, also known as Penmon Lighthouse, is a lighthouse between Black Point near Penmon and Ynys Seiriol, or Puffin Island, at the eastern extremity of Anglesey, marking the passage between the two islands.
The first lighthouse was erected in 1838, at a price of £11,589. There had been a call for a light at this location for some years by master shipmen in the nearby city of Liverpool, especially after the steamer the Rothsay Castle ran aground and broke up on nearby Lavan Sands in 1831 with 130 people losing their lives.
The present Lighthouse, built 1835-1838, is 29 metres (95') tall and was designed by James Walker. It was his first sea-washed tower, and a prototype for his more ambitious tower on the Smalls.
The Lighthouse has a stepped-base designed to discourage the huge upsurge of waves that had afflicted earlier lighthouses on the site and reduce the force of the water at the bottom of the tower.
Austere vertical walls, instead of the usual graceful lines of other rock towers, are probably an economy measure. The tower has a crenellated stone parapet, in preference to iron railings on the gallery, and narrows in diameter above the half-way point. These are features used by Walker in his other lighthouse designs. The tower is distinguished by its original three black bands painted on a white background. Its also bears the words "NO PASSAGE LANDWARD" on its north and south sides.
Walker also pioneered, unsuccessfully, the use of a primitive water closet, comprising a specially designed drain exiting at the base of the tower. The stepped design of the lighthouse may have helped water exit the closet, but surges of seawater made its use difficult during heavy weather.
The light-source initially was a 4-wick Argand lamp, set within a first-order fixed catadioptric optic manufactured by Isaac Cookson & co. It displayed a fixed red light.
Equipment Used: DJI Mavic 2 Zoom
Editing Software: Final Cut Pro X
Music: "Swirl" by Owen Who

Dovestone Reservoir | Chew Reservoir Levee & Brook (Drone Footage)
Spent two lovely years there, 76 -78 ,wouldn't have missed it for the world.
Cracking little brook to spin and fly fish had so many big wild brown trout
😊
People here are sick in the head, good creation god!
First went there as an Air Cadet in March 1983 to do a week long Gliding Course at Syerston. Course got snowed out but got to look around the Missile Museum in 4 Hanger which was the RAF's Missile Technical training school (Did Engineer training on Martel, Firestreak, Red Top and Bloodhound Missiles). All of the missiles in the museum ended up at RAF Museum Cosford. Went back there in 1986 to learn how to fix Bloodhound Mk2 missiles.
Thanks for sharing!
😂Lots of cars etc for a so called “abandoned” and 😂”radioactive” place.
All urban explorers.. of course😂😂joking!😂😂
I served and lived there for 8 years nothing Radioactive about RAF Newton
Love the different use of flight modes, Timelapse, slowmo etc! Very cleaver
The most beautiful video I've ever watched.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ja,. die kann man nur verprügeln! Sie sind aufdringlich, übergriffig und bösartig!
Nice
Hey Jake, what great footage thanks for your incredible work. Would it be OK to use some of this great footage for my vlog on a ley alignment, I'm currently working on. I would give you 100% credit that it's your work and linking the footage to your fabulous channel. Thanking you in advance!!!👍
Hi, that would be absolutely fine! Glad you enjoyed it!
@@JakeSilvester Many thanks Jake, much appreciated 🙏
@@alchemyspectrum feel free to share me a link to your vid, would love to check it out!
@@JakeSilvester I certainly will, I’ll tag your channel in the video description once it’s done.
Just a traffic Rotary with extra steps.
Is this damn thing still in use? I had to cross it back in 2006 with a European car ( the stirring wheel was on the left side ) and I manage to do so with the help of my partner who had made a map of it and told me where to go. In the style get there on the left side, stop here, on this one we get clockwise .... such kind of instructions....lol What helped of course a lot was the fact that my car had foreign plates and so the other drivers stopped or kindly let me pass. Otherwise it would have been impossible to cross this crazy roundabout without causing a collision as it is impossible to comprehend who is going where and when you are into this roundabout you have the notion that the cars are coming from all directions. I don't know and I can't even imagine who was the idiot who designed this thing.
Traffic on the complicated road flows smoothly while the drone itself, in the open air with nothing around it, crashes into a tree at the very end.
Its a cruel cruel world🤣🤣
It’s an ironic world too.
From the English Heritage webpage about Silbury Hill: "English Heritage does not permit drone flying from or over sites in our care, except by contractors or partners undertaking flights for a specific purpose, who satisfy stringent CAA criteria, have the correct insurances and permissions, and are operating under controlled conditions. " So?
Fuck English Heritage. What harm is a drone doing flying over it.
I would not want to venture through this for the first time during rush hour. Thanks muchly for the explanation in the description. It seems a tad over-engineered to me.
Jake, salut- yo. outstanding vlog-so long,😍
For first timers passing through that "roundabouts-in-a roundabout" would be a scary task especially for North Americans 😂 & new drivers. Yet from Aerial drone footage the moment of passing vehicles from all directions captured in "top down " view makes it feel easy for drivers ( which i suppose is if one passes through it 4-5 times ) . Actually it is a great way to make drivers learn roundabout concept through "top down " looking videos . Great video 👍🏽
Thank you for watching!
Awesome!
Thank you! Hope you check out more of my Exploring Sweden videos! Its a beautifully diverse country especially in Winter!
@@JakeSilvester really? I have got a question! What about a temperature! Is Sweden super cold in Winter? 🤔🤔🤔
❤❤❤❤
I wish someone would do the light trails for the magic roundabout (technically the Plough roundabout) in Hemel.
good discipline
Radioactive? An over fertile imagination! NO , NO and No silly Jake!.
What a wonderful place. 🧐
Hi just wondering if you could share the camera settings you used? I have similar videos taken with an air2s and would love to get the streak effect.
Where is this 😮😮😮
I found it tucked away in Somerset! Was quite the adventure to get to and find😂
Cool drone footage! How nice that the plebs have been out and unleashed their 'artistic tallents' under the bridge already.
Thank you, I know a real shame!
Great video and great drone usage 👏👏😍
Thankkk youuuuu!
Weird video, annoying , poor editing
Why oh why would you want to cycle across this? 🫣
People doo… I would never brave it either
I totally would cycle this. Just give way to the right and stay close to a car going your way for extra visibility/shielding
Plenty of sidewalks and crosswalks.
Great footage of the pathway from the reservoir we just walked up it this afternoon for the first time, not many people taking this route. Eventually got back home at 7.30. Is it possible to walk across to the other side dovestone/pinnacle/ greenfield res from here? We just walked back down the pathway to dovestone but would be nice to take a different route back. Just stumbled across this video so I will check your other post out too. Great footage and thanks for the views.
Thank you for your comment! I really enjoyed the walk, I found it randomly while travelling up North for work and was well worth a day of exercise
Perfect music for an insane video
Thank you for sharing! And how artificial and what a surrogat UA-cam is, i live there, its just minutes on foot behind my house - i always see this as totally normal, nothing special, just a standard ingredient of my everyday live. How can someone live different without activly seeking - and getting - change?
Thank you- ool editing! )
He got injured 😱
I was born in Beckermet, 60 years ago and started my life long hobby of mineral collecting, after visiting the Florence Mine in 1973 with my Dad. It had such a huge impact on me that I trained as a Geologist 8 years later, although in the end I didn't follow a career in the subject due to the demise of mining in the UK. But I still have fond memories of my time there. Now retired, I'm back in Cumbria again after leaving for 50+ years and believe it or not I have just acquired a large beautiful combination specimen of hematite, specularite and quartz from the Florence Mine!
Thank you for sharing your story! Is absolutely fascinating to read!
